ARETE ("we", "us", or "our") is a personalized running coaching application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our service at arete.app and related mobile or web applications.

By using ARETE, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use immediately.

• Biomechanical scores derived from video analysis (posture, stride, cadence)

2.3 Strava Data (If Connected)

If you connect your Strava account, we access the activity data you authorize, including GPS routes, pace, distance, heart rate, and activity history. We only request the permissions necessary to provide our coaching features. You may revoke Strava access at any time through your Strava account settings.

• Device type and browser information
• App usage patterns and feature interactions

• To generate and adapt your personalized training plan
• To analyze your running form from submitted videos

Video recordings submitted for form analysis are processed and may be stored temporarily. You may request deletion of specific recordings by contacting us.

ARETE is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.

Users between the ages of 13 and 18 should use the app with parental consent.

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. This includes encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), access controls, and secure database hosting.

However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security and encourage you to use strong passwords and protect your account credentials.

We use browser local storage to store your athlete ID and onboarding preferences locally on your device. This is essential for the app to function. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies.

ARETE is operated globally. By using our service, you consent to your information being processed in countries where our service providers operate, which may have different data protection laws than your home country.

EU/EEA residents: We process your data under legitimate interest (to provide the service you signed up for) and consent. You have rights under GDPR as outlined in Section 6.
